GlennGlenn woke to the sound of birdsong that morning. At least it sounded like bird song, it seemed oddly muffled, as though it was coming from underwater. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her paw. Glenn stopped. Her face felt… wrong. She opened her eyes and looked at her palm. It took her several seconds to realise what had happened. She had heard the tales of ketus changing shape but always assumed it was some drunken Akadri who’d woken up in a kets nest and thought he belonged there. Apparently not, she thought, turning her hands over and inspecting them. They were pink, like her pads had been, but her palms were covered in tiny lines and ridges. Where her claws had been, she now had what looked like pink scales that grew white near the tips. Glenn looked around the inside of her cave, it was pleasantly cool though slightly damp, but so was everything in the Singing Vale, thanks to the humid climate.
